??? <— story of my life

Filed under: Uncategorized — by ekang @ 6:52 pm

Lately, I’ve realized that I ask a LOT of question. Having so many questions is HARD, my curiosity NEVER ends and it just goes in circles! And to make it work, i HATE curiosity. curiosity killed the cat? curiosity will kILL me! One thing leads to another and another and all of a sudden…I feel like i’m back at square one, knowing nothing and confused.

I guess questions can be good, curiosity stems to learning. Challenging our minds and not just accepting everything as true. Strive to know more and  fill our minds with as much knowledge as we can =)Don’t be contempt, challenges are fun!

So sorry if i ask too many questions, forgive me, i’m trying to learn.
i want to go bowling.
i miss TV.

selfish disappointment

everyone fails. i fail, you fail, we all fail. but i guess, the ability to acknowledge failure is what separates people.

It’s funny how important school is to some people. But in the end, if its not glorifying God then….what’s the point? If you have to sacrifice glorifying God then it really shouldnt be something you prioritize or even do at all. And obviously this is all easier said then done, but we have to strive for it.

So i guess being able to acknowledge and attempt to minimize those failures is key to life. Glorify God=our purpose in life.

I suppose people write in their blogs when they have something important/creative to express to the world, but whatevers.

School is here. junior year is here. midterms are around the corner. football season is HERE. and life is good.

I realized how sad our world is. if you open cnn.com or listen to the news everything is about criminals, murders, deaths, natural disasters, kidnapping, divorce, etcc.. it’s even MORE sad that only these kind of topics actually make it on the headlines, because sadly people are most interested in the bad of the world. There IS good in this world, its just not fun to read about someone doing good because it might make you feel bad about yourself, but reading about “juicy dirt” somehow makes us feel okay. uggh, honestly i fall victim to this, hearing about jon&kate’s divorce is so entertaining, but why? Jesus, where you at?!

boy oh boy how time flies. it’s crazy how my yonsei experience is slowly coming to an end. and for that my time in korea as a whole…although i will miss all the crazy times and long nights i will NOT miss….

being woken up in the middle of the night from CRAZY mosquitos that find it enjoyable to bite me….6 times. 1 bite i will understand from 1 annoying mosquito but 2 on my face, 1 on my figure, 2 on my legs ALL in one night i can not handle. i woke up at 4:30am today because they itched so bad and i knew if i were to fall asleep again that damn mosquito would get me 5 more times before morning came…SO i made it my mission to kill that sucker before i went back to sleep. so i turned my lamp on got on my computer and waited for that enemy to attack again…

GOTTEMS’…but after he got me again, whatever victory is nice :D after smashing the enemy and examining it a little, i decided it was safe to go back to bed =) BUT due to that little battle i an now super tired and wish i could just get a good nights rest.

anywayyyyy. i only have a little time left but there is still so much i need to do..aka so many things i still need…want to buy. i should really starting doing all that before i run out of time and am forced to go back empty handed =(

ehh, its a little past the half way mark in my korean journey, and hopefully that means my level of fun will be peaking as well, you know like a normal distribution curve, but that would also mean my next half would be on a decline, sooo maybe my korean journey will be more like an S curve =) SO randomly i really miss learning, i miss being fed knowledge that i hate at the time, but makes my life feel a little more satisfying in the end. NOT to say my yonsei classes arent doing an adequate job of fulfilling that need(my modern korean society and culture class is actually really interesting, i’ve been learning a lot about korea as a whole. i didnt know a lot of this stuff before!) but a Berkeley education really does know how to hit the spot :D as annoying/hard/competitive/stressful/boring as a may be in the process, the end result (almost)always pays off. HOPEFULLY i still feel this way in a month, when school actually starts :D

i LOVE grapes…grape anything is DELICIOUS! AND grapes come in my two FAVORITE colors: purple and green :D i drink the del monte grape juice in korea at least once a day and on top of that i need graped flavored something or real grapes, grape candy, grape popsicle, grape lollipops, grape ANYTHING :D i just recently realized my passion and love for grapes :D

when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
life really is what you make of it.
CARPE DIEM.

i think being in korea i’ve realized what it means to work for what you get. my life is not set in stone and catered to me in korea. it’s what i make of it. it’s not berkeley where i go to my classes, fic on fridays, small group on thursdays, church and CM on sundays. and events inbetween it all. life is so structured back home, but in korea, it’s whatever i want it to be, both good or bad.

why make sour lemon juice when you can make delicious lemonade?!
one glass of lemonade for me pleaseeee =)

it’s freaking raining cats and dogs!!! it has gotten pretty strong and consistent! booo no bueno! i had walking up and down the hills of yonsei in fear that i’m gonna lose my sandal in the heavy downward water flow! and i feel dumb holding an umbrella and still ending up totally soaked. boooo.. rain or crazy heat? berkeley weather please :D

on a brighter note,

week 2

lllooooooong week, well kinda

So, since moving into iHouse dorms life in korea seemed much more real and independent. In the couple days before classes started, I was able to explore more of korea, well mostly nearby areas. I feel like everyday is some new, random adventure. Oh the embarrassing/memorable/unrepeatable memories i shall carry with my stellzies. other then eating, shopping, RANDOM hangouts at night. life is prettty chhhhhillll.

Once classes started attending yonsei seemed slightly more real. which i guess is good and bad. classes here are prettty chill SO far, but i guess we’ll see. a lot of people here seem weird…

so i think i have officially been in pain for a good month now. first strep throat, then my wisdom teeth, then my stupid other tooth, wow holy moly i just want to be better. but i guess it all gets better in time.  but i believe in the korean dental system, infact i LOVE it i love my dentist and the whole office. :D maybe if i had a dentist like that in america, i wouldnt be so afraid to go. i HIGHLY recommend “inno dentist” clean, friendly, cheap and LEGIT service :D

PICTURES (none of these pictures do any justice to the real thing, but they will have to do)

week 1

Filed under: Uncategorized — by ekang @ 6:30 am

so, i have officially ben in korea for a week and i’d have to say it’s been an eventful week. I spent most of my time with family, just chillin’ and catching up. BUENO =)

since my eemo lives in 분당 i spent a lot of time there. i actually became quite familiar with the area…especially…the dentist =( booooo. i come to korea to have a fun summer and instead i am restricted by my teeth. because dentistry in korea is so much better and super cheap i am forced to fix my teeth up here. i got a wisdom tooth pulled. boo, but it actually wasnt as bad as i thought. the technology here is so much more advanced. america needs to catch up, maybe then i wouldnt hate the dentist so much. so i am taking medicine and hoping it will be fully healed  ASAP!

it was nice being able to see my not-so-baby cousins. they’ve grown SO much its crazy. i feel like the amount they grew and the amount i grew is sad, because i haven’t grown.

so as i traveled between family members, i got to ride in a crazy ballin’ express bus. the ticket was around $10 for a 2 hours non-stop bus ride, but the seats were cray nice. i actually was seating in a seat by itself, like there werent 2 seats right next to each other, it was an aisle of one seaters :D

so after spending time with family i moved into ihouse. stellzies and i settled in as best we could in this ghetto dorm. but i guess its home for the next month and a half. so far i’ve just met up with some people and ate. there is so much food in korea, its kinda ridiculous. but GOOD food nonetheless.

i realized, money is gone like CRAZY here. i dont even realized i’m spending money and all of sudden its gone!! =O crazy. everything looks so cute and necessary. but then in retrospect its ALL unnecessary. all those cute pens and notebooks only look cute on the store shelf. oh wells, i feel like i’ll experience a lot of that here in korea. whatevers :D i still enjoy it!! i want to find a super cute and delicious cafe that i can go to and sip on some ice coffee :D i still have yet to find the hot spots/delicious eats near school.

ohhhh korea :D

well thats my week recapped.
